Group of Antennas, Radar and
Optical Communications
WE ARE A LEADING RESEARCH GROUP
IN THE AREA OF ELECTROMAGNETISM
The main research areas of the Group of Antennas, Radar and Optical Communications, known as SC7 or COM group of the University of Vigo include design and measurement of antennas, computational electromagnetism, EMC, radar, millimeter wave applications, electro-optics and technology quantum of information. In computational Electromagnetics, this group is a leader in Europe and has been working for the Spanish Navy for more than 20 years.
Its researchers have signed in Nature and Science. He leads European technology projects and has launched two spinoffs, EM3 Works y Raytrack.
Laboratory of the University of Vigo located in the Technological Logistics Park (PTL), very close to the Vigo university campus.
This 500-square-meter laboratory houses an Integrated Services System (SSI) demonstrator, a project developed for Navantia on the 4.0 ship line and digital twins
Unique installation whose purpose is to carry out tests of measurements of antennas, electromagnetic compatibility, radar section and electromagnetic signals of a diverse nature.
Parallel to these services, the laboratory also develops research projects associated with these lines of work.
QOPHI’s mission is to produce high quality basic and applied scientific knowledge in the field of photonics and communications, through research projects, R&D contracts and agreements with private sector companies.
The rest of the COM Group’s dependencies are the Optics and Radar Laboratory, with a terahertz spectrometer where anomalies in products from the food or health sector and the one known as Maxwell’s Corner are analyzed.
