Antonio García-Pino was born in Valdemoro, (Madrid), in 1962. He graduated as a Telecommunications Engineer in 1985 and as a Doctor in 1989, in both cases from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. From 1985 to 1989 he belonged to the Radiation Group of the UPM as a researcher. Since February 1987 he has been a professor at the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineers of Vigo, being appointed Full Professor in 1990 and in 1995 University Professor at the age of 32.

During 1993 he carried out a research stay at the “Center for Electromagnetics Research” at Northeastem University in Boston. His areas of interest include shaped reflector antennas for terrestrial and space applications, high frequency electromagnetic diffraction, computational electromagnetism, exposure to electromagnetic fields, and communication systems. On these issues, he is the author of more than 100 articles in international magazines and conferences and has been the director of 14 doctoral theses.

He has been a Senior Member of the IEEE since 2005. Between 2006 and 2010 he was Vice Chancellor for Academic Organization and Faculty. From 2013 to the present, he is the head of doctoral studies at the University of Vigo as director of the International Doctoral School (EIDO).
